Blogging Day 244: Otakon 2011 Anime

What I <3 about Otakon is that you get the chance to watch Anime on the big screen!

These are the animes that I got a chance to see.
Bunraku:

This movie had potential to be AWESOME! Unfortunately, it feel short. Still a good movie. Anything bad about it had nothing to do with the actors, and all with the story. At times it moved slow and I found myself getting bored.

The best part of the whole movie is Kevin McKidd as Killer #2. In fact, I may cosplay as this guy.

Everything I have seen him in I have liked, especially ROME. He is an amazing actor and he plays Evil very very well.

Of course it probably helps that he is a Red Head Scot, which I find incredibly sexy :D
Madoka Magica:

This looks like an a cute and light anime. It is CUTE, but not light, in fact it is very dark. In fact, I think it's cuteness makes it that even darker. It's about girls who can make any wish, but for that wish they most battle witches for the rest of their lives.

While trying to describe this anime, Gunslinger girls comes to mind.

Gunslinger Girls is another amazing anime about young girls being turned into assassins. This is psychological anime and the story is amazing. When I played Shadowrun I based my character on these girls.

Back, to Madoka Magica, the producer said he wanted something like Sailor Moon but with people dieing It definately feels like a darker Sailor Moon. They even transform like Sailor Moon.

Either way, this is a most see anime, if anything for the art.

Durarara:

This was a very huge anime at Otakon. I saw three episodes and for me it moves slow, at least the episodes I saw. The only reason I will continue to watch this anime is because everyone says it is amazing.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble:

I <3 Trigun!!!! Trigun is one of my favorite animes!!! I was super excited that they made another movie of this story.

**spoiler.. maybe**

The only disappointment I have is that they did not continue the love story of Vash and Meryl.

**spoiler end**

Fullmetal Alchemisst: Sacred Star Of Milos::

I wanted to see this because Fullmetal Alchemist is another one of my favorite animes!
Unfortunately, I was not even able to get close to the room that was playing this movie.

FYI-This movie was part of the Brotherhood series.
Garden Of Sinners:

I am not a fan of this series. It was way to serious for me. I like animes that are serious, but with humor to ease the pressure. I found myself being bored. A good story and amazing art, just not for me.

Neuro:

I like this anime and then again I didn't. It was hilarious, this trailer makes it look very serious, but the episodes I saw were not. I loved the mystery solving part of the story, but I felt the mystery was solved to fast. It felt like a dark Scooby Do.

Funniest part was when he hired the secretary and how he paid her...LOL!

Another intersting part is that the main character is a girl who is helping out this demon because she hopes that he will solve her father's murder. When they described her father's "suicide" everyone in the room cracked up laughing. If you can catch why they are laughing, you are much smarter then I am, because I had to have my brother explain it to me.

**Spoiler Answer**

Evidently you can not kill yourself my pinning yourself to the floor and then continue to take a chain saw to yourself.  The cops ruled that suicide...

** End of Spoiler Answer**

Our Home's Fox Deity:

This anime is hilarious!! I am definitely watching this one!

FYI- The blonde guy and girl in the trailer is the same fox deity that is protecting two young boys. The fox deity had been locked up for a 100 years and was freed to protect the two boys who are the children of a girl she had befriended. Her reactions to technology are priceless.

Best part ever is when she trys to make a cursed video like in The Ring! LOL!

That's all I was able to watch, unfortuantely there were so many animes to watch and so little time! Now, I have a list of animes to watch to keep busy until Doctor Who starts again.

Blogging Day 328: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows Part 2

****Spoiler Alert...maybe I dunno, just in case****

http://moviebuzzers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/harry-potter-deathly-hallows-2-poster.jpg

I have read ALL of the Harry Potter books and enjoyed them ALOT. I was at the book stores at midnight picking up the latest Harry Potter books whenever they came out. That is how Hardcore I am!

With that said; I thought this movie was amazing! I was blown away!

I went to see the movie in 3D and I was sitting there trying to figure out if it was worth seeing in 3D and I could not come up with a yes or no. In Pirates of the Caribbean, I knew I had just wasted money on seeing it in 3D, and in the Green Lantern I knew I would have lost a lot if I hadn't seen it in 3D. In Harry Potter though, I was so enjoying the movie so much I didn't care.

The movie itself started right where the last movie ended, when Voldemort found the Elder wand. From there it hit the ground and ran. The action was amazing, and  the effects, specially right at the beginning of the battle, were breathtaking.

The one thing that they got perfectly, and I personally think throughout all the movies, was Professor Snape's story. It was beautiful. It just showed how much he loved Harry's mother and how much it hurt him to lose her. I cried. It hit hard when you saw his Patronus spell. **tear**  Poor Professor Snape.

Was I completely happy with the movie? NO! Two things I did not enjoy:

1. They skipped over the whole part that Voldemort could not harm anyone because Harry died for everyone. Remember how his mother died for Harry Potter and Voldemort wasn't able to kill Harry. Will Harry did the same things for his friends and they totally skipped that!!!!!!!

2. The ending: Not enough. This is more JK Rowling's fault then the movie. The end was more of a point, to say yes all these bad things happen but life went on and will continue to go on. Still, I wanted MORE! I will always want more.

Do I suggest you see this movie?

YES!!!!

Am I sad that Harry Potter films are over? YES!!!!

Fans need to check out Pottermore!!! JK Rowling is going to be posting back stories to the characters we love!!

Did you guys see the movie?

What did you think?

Blogging Day 287: Xmen First Class

Where is Banshee in this picture?

I saw Xmen:First Class and it was amazing! By far the best Xmen movie yet.

The only Xmen comic series I've read is Ultimate Xmen and that started when Professor X was bald and already in the wheelchair. So, I do not know the true story of how the Xmen started, so my review is based off never reading the beginning.

Watching this movie I can tell how Magento became who he was. Having your powers first manifesting in a Nazi training camp is never good. Honestly, all that was portrayed in the back story of Magento, I would have a hard time choosing Professor X's side. Come to think about it, after everything that  happened in the movie, I would choose the side of Magento. It would be hard to want to save the people that continually try to kill you. Especially when you have all that power.

Plus, Erik was super hot in this movie.
Erik was played by Michael Fassbender, who I just found out plays Mr. Rochester in the new Jane Erye movie. That movie is going to the top of my Netflix Queue.

I think, I definitely have a thing for men with tortured and brooding souls. The love interest I choose in Dragon Age 2 was Fenris, I thought McNair from Being Human was hot, now Magneto and do not even get me started on Mr. Rochester from Jane Erye. Maybe that is where my tortured soul fetish started, from when I first read Jane Erye.

Hmmm... this speaks volumes for my furture relatioships. Pray for me now!

Back to the point, every scene that Magento was in, I could not look away.  Michael Fassbender did an amazing job.

Best scene/Line: " I agree with everything you are doing, but... you killed my mother."

James McAvoy is another favorite actor of mine. Very well rounded, he is great in action, drama and comedy films.
http://media.sundancechannel.com/UPLOADS/blog/wordpress/images/2011/05/X-Men-First-CLass-Professor-Xavier-James-McAvoy-570x379.jpg

I think James did a marvelous job playing professor X. Unfortunately, there were times when Charles and Raven were interacting together and I was thinking, " You may be a super genius, but you are so dumb when it comes to the human feelings." Which probably makes Professor X the person he is, still sometime you just want slap him upside the head for not seeing Raven and her pain.

Now one other actor I was watching was Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique because she is going to be playing Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games.

imbd.com

I always saw Mystique as this powerful self-assured woman ,and it never occurred to me at any moment that there was time that she didn't think so. I never understood her lack of clothes, I would never be confident enough with my body to go around in the buff.

In this movie Raven is never comfortable in her own skin, and it was a battle for her throughout the movie to become comfortable. Knowing her history and her struggles, it makes Mystique more human that she went through what every female has gone through. Being able to be comfortable in your own skin is an accomplishment in which I have yet to achieve.

The one thing I did not like about Mystique, that doesn't even have do with Jennifer, but her costume, is her HAIR. It is always so stiff! If you do a google image on Mystique her hair is never stiff, it's lush and flow-y. I think they could have done a better job.

Four things I have to mention:

1. Did anyone know Kevin Bacon was in this movie??!?! I did not! I was surprised when I saw him, especially on how big of a part he played.

2. Cameos of two older Xmen: Keep your eyes open for Wolverine(Hugh Jackman) and Mystique(Rebecca Romijn)

3. There is a "Guess Who" moment in the film when Charles wears Cerebral. How many Xmen can you name? I only got one because it was SO obvious.

4. No clip at the end after the credits, not need to wait like I did.

Blogging Day 286: The Hunger Games

The Hunger GamesCatching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)

I just finished reading 'The Hunger Games' book series by Suzanne Collins.

It was amazing!!!!

The basic story is that in the sometime future after an apocalypse of some sort, there are 12 districts. The districts tried to rebel against the capital and lost. Part of the surrendering agreement, each year the disctricts send two kids, one girl one boy, to the arena where they kill each other to be the lone survivor. The main character's, Katniss Everdeen, younger sister gets chosen and she steps-up and takes her place and ends up going to the games.

The games have been going on for 74 years and you can feel throughout the first book that the capitals hold on the districts is weakening. As the books continue on Katniss Everdeen finds herself the unwilling poster child for the uprising.

The story is very brutal and the author brings out real emotions of what it is like to be a girl thrust into these circumstances. How a girl growing up in this type of world reacts to her surroundings. It took me a week to read these books. I basically engulfed these books they were so amazing.

What is even more amazing is that they are making a MOVIE!!!!!

These are the four casts choices(according to imbd) which I think are perfect:

Katniss Everdeen: Jennifer Lawrence

Entertainment Weekly

This is a perfect picture of Katniss. The actress is embodying Katniss's no nonesense attitude about life.

President Snow: Donald Sutherland

imbd.com
OMG! When I heard he was playing President Snow I was elated! Donald Sutherland can definitely play the sweet smelling evil President.

Cinna: Lenny Kravtiz

imbd.com

Perfect. I saw Lenny Kravtiz in 'Prescious' and and I thought he was a good actor. I think Lenny Kravitz will be perfect to imbody the rebel stylist.

Peeta Mellark: Josh Hutcherson

When I read the book, I actually pictured this actor as Peeta. I totally missed the fact that Peeta had blonde curly hair.

I can not wait for this movie to come out! People are calling it the new Twilight?!? No, I like Twilight, but this is not a Twilight series. Closer to Star Wars then Twilight.

Water-I hate having to go the bathroom all the time.

Blogging Day 281: Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides

Last night I went and saw POC4 in 3D.

First, do not see POC4 in 3D, it was not worth it. The cool parts of the whole 3D experience were the previews. It annoys me when movies just plug in 3D to make more money. Unfortunately, I will be a sucker every time for a 3D movie, which is probably why they do that.

The best out all the Pirate movies was the first movie. That movie was amazing! The second and the third were OK, I liked them, but not as amazing as the first. NOW, POC4 would probably be my second favorite.

I was a bit upset at first that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were not going to be in this movie. I know, I was probably the only one who was upset. Then I realized their story was over, and Jack Sparrow's story will never be over. Plus, the new side love story, between the priest and the mermaid, was my favorite part of the movie.

I hope there is a fifth movie explaining what happened to the two of them. I waited in the theaters until after the credits hoping their would be a clip explaining what happened.

They did have a clip, so waiting after the credits is worth it. Well, I dunno if it was worth it, but there was a clip. All I have to say is, 'Hell have no fury as a woman scorned'.

Anyways, the movie was partly based on the book 'On Stranger Tides' by Tim Powers.

On Stranger Tides

The book is currently on my wish list at the library. Maybe it will explain what happened to the mermaid and the priest.

Plus, per wiki, the book was also inspiration for the game, 'Monkey Island'. Which was an awesome game!!

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition [Online Game Code]

The movie was not the best POC, but it was a good movie none the less. I would definitely go see it, if not to see Johnny Depp being awesome. He will never be able to lose this character,.

<3 Zerila

Water- I did not get all my water, maybe only three glasses and I could tell. Having your daily water amount helps with staying awake.

Veggies- I had only 3. I forgot when I went out to eat.

Blogging Day 219: Sucker Punch

My brothers and I saw 'Sucker Punch' today. The movie is trippy to say the least.  Trippy, like 'Inception' was trippy. When you go see this movie the main thing to remember is that this movie is all about what is going on in the main character's head and at the time she is drugged up on meds that she is given in the insane asylum. Plus, the main character has gone through quite a lot of traumatic things in a very short time span. Once, you understand that the movie may begin to make since, as it did for me.

It definitely isn't an Oscar performance by any of the actors, this is an action film, nothing more, nothing less. Once they get to the action part, it is AMAZING!!!!

My brother's reaction to the film was, " It was really good until the main character, Baby Doll, started talking,".

Now at first I was like, oh no he didn't! But, then I agreed. The first part of the movie, she didn't speak at all, you got all the emotions from her body language. Once, she did start talking, a kinda of spell was broken. But, also the character started finding her voice and slowly throughout the movie she became stronger.

Hmm... yes that is deep. I like that. Baby Doll, at first is a very weak character, but in the end she gains a lot of strength to confront her enemies. Hmmm... I'm drowning in my deepness.

All in all, awesome action, awesome special effects, and amazing soundtrack. My favoirte part of the movie was the soundtrack. It was perfect! I have never seen a movie with a more perfect soundtrack beore. Amazing!

OH!! For those that like Baby Doll's Skirt! Secret Life of a Bionerd did a tutorial on how to make it.

I will be adding a link to Bionerd's Youtube webpage to my 'Awesome Websites'. I love her channel, she is very crafty and I enjoy her comedy shorts. She is a must watch on Youtube. Plus, she does videos for ThreadBanger!!!

Veggies/Water: I had 5 Glasses of water and 4 servings of vegatables. For the first day back I thought I did pretty good. I will do better tomorrow. I  keep reminding myself, no chips with lunch, but fruit.

Blogging Day 189: I'm Back!

Yes, I am back after a very long week and a half.

It was a VERY very VeRy long two day drive to get there and two days back. I took my laptop with me and spent the whole time watching movies. FYI! You must watch "The A Team"! Amazing movie! Out of all the movies I watched, and I think it was about 15 or more, that was the one I enjoyed the most!  I think I will actually be buying the movie, which is very rare for me. The lasts movie I bought was Resident Evil 2...

Mississippi was enjoyable. I enjoyed meeting and hanging out with my family. My Aunt told me I need to stay in touch with my cousins. I'm not known for keeping in touch with my extended family, mainly because they are on all sides of the country... literally! I have a pack in Oklahoma/Texas, another in California, some in Minnesota and then there is us in Maryland. My point, is no one is close and it is hard to keep touch in. Either way, I'm going to try.

I totally here Yoda's Voice right now....

Do or do not. There is no try...

Anyways, I'm back and I will start blogging everyday again.
